The Nexus 7 2016 is far from dead as Google is rumored to introduce the Stock Android tablet alongside the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones with the possibility of an immediate release date. As speculated, Nexus 6P maker Huawei is tipped as the anointed builder.
Huawei, in fact, was the original choice to manufacture the Pixel phones but begged off as the Chinese device maker would want to release a Google handset that bears its brand name, 9to5Google said in a new report. So HTC stepped in but Huawei remains a Google hardware partner.
In the same report, the company is set to supply Google with a mid-range mobile device though it was unclear if the future project will involve a smartphone or a tablet. This collaboration will come into fruition in the second half of 2017.
But prior to that, Huawei is reportedly tasked to come up with the third version of the Nexus 7 tablet that formerly was assigned to Asus. In recent months, the company was subject of persistent rumors that it will unpack the next Nexus slate that has a 7-inch screen profile.
While both Google and Huawei are mostly silent on the matter, a sort of confirmation was provided by the latter by hinting that work on the next Nexus by company was underway. That was months ago but in the past weeks, gadget leaker Evan Blass shared the news that the Chinese device maker is indeed unboxing a Google device that packs a 7-inch display with 4GB of RAM.
Now the latest chatter indicates that Huawei remains part of the Nexus 2016 push and potentially will provide the last of the Nexus line. Rumors say that the device will boast of build, design, specs and features that will match Apple's iPad Mini and Samsung's Galaxy S small tablet series.
According to BGR, if indeed the Nexus 7 will materialize it will be among the first device to run on Andromeda OS or the fusion of Android and Chrome operating system. The new platform, if reports are to be believed, is Google' fresh attempt of gaining inroad in the 2-in-1 or hybrid mobile device segment.
And granting that Android fans will be allowed a peek of the Nexus 7 2016 tablet, which is also tipped to be known as Pixel 7 in the event that Google will totally kill the Nexus brand, the release date is seen to happen immediately, likely between October and early November 2016.
