There is no question about it; aging is one of the concerns of women today. And because there have been ongoing expectations from the society saying women should tie self-worth and fitness, it can be tough to battle aging single-handedly.
Good thing there are still those who have refreshing and hopeful insights on how to combat this issue that has been bugging women all over the world. Health reports what "Madam Secretary" star and producer Téa Leoni has to say.
During an interview with More magazine, Leoni shared that once on the set of "The Family Man", director Brett Ratner told people that despite her age of 34, she is still 'doable'.
"I asked myself, 'Do I still care about that?' And at that time, I did. I felt that pressure to be 'doable'," she said. "It was the meanest thought I'd had for myself in a long time."
But eversince then, the now 48-year-old star has learned to embrace aging and became much kinder to herself. She cited that she has moved on from chasing youth, believing it was a war she was not going to win.
"It's not like I'm thrilled to turn around and catch my can in the mirror, but I can see now how much of my happiness could be a victim of trying to stay young and desirable," she added. "And it feels like peace and victory to be relieved of that burden."
Leoni also emphasized that getting rid of the youth obsession made her appreciate wisdom, which is a great result of aging. In fact, she tells her children to think about what is in store now other than think of what is going to happen in the future.
For her, guidance and acceptance are far better than appealing to 20-year-olds or bagging awards. She shares that women should hear their voice first.
