The nomination list for the upcoming 2016 Korea Drama Awards was recently released that included several "Doctors" cast members. The SBS drama's two lead stars Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won are set to compete against other celebrities in the Best Actress and Grand Excellence categories, respectively.
Organizers of the 2016 Korea Drama Awards unveiled its list of nominated South Korean stars and TV drama programs to local reporters on Oct. 6, Thursday, according to Osen. A total of 41 celebrities, producers and industry experts have the chance to bring home an award in their respective categories.
Park was nominated for a Best Actress award for her portrayal of a high school rebel turned successful surgeon in the SBS drama "Doctors." She will compete against "I Have a Lover" actress Kim Hyun Joo, as well as Baek Jin Hee and Seo Hyun Jin. Hee and Jin starred in "My Daughter, Geum Sa Wol" and "Another Oh Hae Young," respectively.
The actress' former co-star Kim received a Grand Excellence Award nomination for his role in the SBS medical drama. He is set to compete against "Descendants of the Sun" actor Song Joong Ki who recently nabbed a similar honor during the 2016 APAN Star Awards.
Apart from Kim and Song, Park Shin Yang also received the same nomination for his role in the KBS legal series "Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho." The "Happy Home" star Kim So Yeon will also compete with the three actors for the said award.
Jang Hyun Sung's portrayal as the head of the neurological department in "Doctors" also earned him a Best Actor nomination for the upcoming event. Other celebrities who received the same nomination include "Oh My Venus" star So Ji Sub, "Remember" actor Yoo Seung Ho and "Cinderella and Four Knights" cast member Ahn Jae Hyun.
The event will also acknowledge the best rookie actors and actresses in a TV series. An award for best soundtrack will also be awarded, as well as the best drama for the year. The 2016 Korea Drama Awards will be held in South Korea on Oct. 7, Friday.
In other news, Park is set to star in the upcoming movie tentatively titled "Witness of Silence." In an interview with TV Report held in early September, the actress' agency S.A.L.T. Entertainment revealed that Park will soon begin preparations for her new movie role as a rich daughter's lawyer.
