Jeremy Lin is prepped and ready for his new role with the Brooklyn Nets who will enter the 2016-17 NBA season with lots of expectations. Progress is the main agenda though making the playoffs could be within reach.
Lin knows that a lot falls on his shoulders. He is expected to start at the point guard position though the fate of the Brooklyn Nets does not solely fall on him.
That is apparently the challenge that Lin has to factor in as he tries to guide his new team. First-year head coach Kenny Atkinson will be there to help, as well as resident star player Brook Lopez.
The Nets have been impressive during practice but Lin knows that the stakes are different once the official games come around, the Nets Daily reported. And with that in mind, Lin is cautious since he knows the scenario will change once he and his Nets teammates buckle down to business against opposing teams.
For now, the main key is to see how Atkinson and Lin can turn things around for the Nets. Progress will be measured and if things turn out well, playoffs could be next on the agenda.
All that starts once the Nets roll. The game plan and the rotation have yet to be established meaning Atkinson will be experimenting a bit in the early going before establishing a regular unit that will carry Brooklyn through its first season, SB nation reported.
For now, Atkinson will try to manage the minutes. Not all players on the Nets roster will get to play every game meaning it all depends on who has been working hard during their practices.
But if there is any indication on who Atkinson will play, it may be the ones who place premium on defense. Atkinson drew prominence working on that with the Atlanta Hawks and that swarming defensive tactic is expected to be on full display for the Nets this season.
Lin is looking forward to joining the ‘swarm’ party, admitting that he hates playing against those types of defense. Under Atkinson, he gets the chance to be the pesky defender against opposing squads.
