AMD could release a Dual Vega 10 GPU and a more powerful AMD Vega 11 later in 2017 which is expected to take on the NVIDIA Pascal video cards GTX 1080 and GTX 1070.
NVIDIA might have taken the top high-end spots for the GPU market as with the GTX 1080 and the new Pascal Titan video card that costs too much. AMD still has a market in the mainstream and low-end market with their Polaris cards but the high-end GPUs are expected to start with the AMD Vega in 2017.
Leaked information shows that the AMD Vega 10 and 11 GPUS are slated for a 2017 launch, iTech Post has learned. PC gamers are waiting for the release as NVIDIA still has the GTX 1080 Ti expected for launch in the same year which could topple the hierarchy again as it is expected to have almost the same power as the Titan with a more affordable price.
AMD Vega GPUs are expected to have at least 4096 cores and 128 compute unit. They are also expected to carry the HBM which could be faster than the GDDR5X the GTX 1080 and Titan carries.
There are also rumors of the AMD Vega Magnum chip debuting in November although the probably is low, WCCFTech reported. AMD could present the Magnum GPU but the release date could be still set for 2017 considering that the roadmap of the company was already presented in the past.
AMD Vega 10 and 11 are touted as 4K gaming video cards which would mean that it could even be more powerful than the current GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 cards. However, some expect that NVIDIA will be releasing the GTX 20 series cards in 2017 which would take the spotlight off the Radeon cards once again.
Fortunately, there have been no solid proof yet of NVIDIA's supposed GTX 2080 plans. AMD Vega 10 and 11 plus the Magnum chip could still prove to be the budget high-end gaming cards for 2017 if they are able to produce the GPUs without any delays this year as they are also busy with their AMD Zen processors.
