The hit "Reply 1988" drama was a big winner during the tvN10 Awards, taking home six awards in total. The prestigious event took place in Seoul, South Korea on Oct. 9, Sunday.
"Reply 1988" was honored with the most prestigious award, called the Content Grand Excellence Award (Daesang), for being tvN's best drama, Yonhap News Agency reported. The 20-episode drama was incredibly popular with the final episode recording 18.8 percent audience share, making it the highest rated drama in Korean cable television history.
tvN10 Awards celebrate the first 10-years of the cable channel, tvN. The said event, which was co-hosted by Shin Dong Yup and Kang Ho Dong, examined the shows that aired on the said cable channel between 2006 and 2016.
The third installment of tvN's "Reply" series also swept the board in several other categories. Park Bo-Gum, who played a genius Baduk player named Choi Taek in the drama, won the Asia Star Award.
The award for Trending Actress and Trending Actor were given to Lee Hye-Ri and Ryu Jun-Yeol, respectively, while veteran stars Ra Mi-Ran and Kim Sung-Kyung was respectively honored with the Best Scene Stealer Actress and Actor award.
Set in the year 1988, the story of "Reply 1988" heavily revolve around five friends and their families living in the same neighborhood of Ssangmun-dong, Dobong District, Northern Seoul. It aired from Nov. 6, 2015 to Jan. 16, 2016.
Meanwhile, it will not be long before fans can see the next installment of "Reply" series. Shin Won-Ho, who helmed the first three installments, recently shared a substantial amount of new details about the next season of "Reply" series.
"I've just finished working on the DVD for 'Reply 1988'," Soompi quoted PD Shin as saying during the tvN10 Awards before a predominantly Korean crowd. "Now I am getting ready for the preparations next year for the next 'Reply' series installment."
