Lady Gaga took a plunge into the icy waters for a fundraising campaign called the "Polar Plunge" at the Lake Michigan of Chicago with her fiancé actor Taylor Kinney on Sunday.
According to Telegraph, this was for the Special Olympics and Kinney even carried his bride-to-be on his back as he assisted her in taking the plunge. The singer was wearing a black shirt that has a logo of the Chicago Fire Department while Kinney opted to go topless.
There were 4,500 other participants who made it to the event and most of them wore costumes as they took the plunge.
Gaga posted a photo on her Instagram page of how cold the plunge was. She said in her caption: "My weave froze!! Taylor gave me his hat I thought my wig was gonna freeze into and become one with the lake."
She posted another photo from the event and noted that it feels so good to do things for a good cause such as the Special Olympics. She pointed out that it is great to donate money and also great to donate a gesture of love for those who deserve to receive it.
Gaga and Kinney recently broke the internet due to their engagement announcement. The massive heart-shaped diamond was posted on her Instagram for her fans to see. Also, the star nabbed the leading role in the next season of "American Horror Story".
According to Yahoo News, actor Vince Vughn also took the plunge on Sunday. He was photographed wearing jeans and a jersey showing patronage to the Chicago Blackhawks. He said in a statement that emerging from the icy plunge felt fantastic.
"Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon also joined the event back in 2014 but was in his suit and tie. This year, the Polar plunge raised more than US$1 million.
During the fundraising event, the temperature was negative seven degrees Celsius according to the US National Weather Service.
