Since Makarov sacrificed his life to save the remaining Fairy Tail guild member, it will greatly affect the already failing relationship of Natsu and Gray. The two close friends who are currently in a confrontation will be despaired by the news that their master died while the they were arguing over their personal concerns. This will further escalate the animosity between the two characters.
During chapter 505 of "Fairy Tail," Eileen appears at the battle ground and casts her "Berserker" spell to increase the strength of their combat soldiers. The villain's magic amplified the ability of the legionnaires over a hundred fold which further made it difficult for the Fairy Tail members to survive.
Since they were already confronted with a larger dilemma, Makarov used the "Fairy Law" spell thinking it was the only way to save the whole guild from the enemies. Though some guild members like Erza tried to stop him, the old mage still casted the spell which marked the end of his life.
Despite Makarov's death, his "Fairy Law" was able to eliminate the enormous number of soldiers. The said magic shortens the lifespan of its user depending on the number of opponents affected. When the older mage's attack was finished, Makarov was seen lifelessly falling from his knees.
Towards the end of the chapter, a scene between Natsu and Gray was flashed. The illustration indicated that the two somehow felt the energy that Makarov used to cast the Fairy Law. Fans over Reddit are now speculating Makarov's death will worsen the situation between the Ice and the Fire mage.
While Gray was still trying to convince Natsu to reveal his true identity, the two will further blame each other, especially Gray to Natsu, who may even charge their comrade's death to the latter's non-revelation of his true identity.
The speculations justify the leaked title for chapter 505, "Broken Bonds." The strong bond between Gray and Natsu will be put to an end as the hatred for one another will be surge.
