As announced in the "Clash of Clans" official forum by Anoushka, the CoC October 2016 Update went live seven days after the Sneak Peeks that were provided last week. As of writing, however, the game server remain in maintenance status, which means the feature upgrades to be delivered by Supercell will have to wait a few more hours to go live.
But the official CoC Blog has already listed the new things that Clashers are set to enjoy. Heading the pack of new features is the Friendly Wars or known in previous reports as Clan Challenge. The key function of the add-on, according to the blog post, is to "challenge other Clans to friendly Clan War face-offs. Friendly wars can be as short as one hour and as small as 5v5."
And to highlight the balanced CoC gameplay mentioned in earlier posts, the blog introduced the following:
- Introducing the Bomb Tower at Town Hall 8!
- New troop levels: Dragon, Baby Dragon, Wizard
- New defense Levels: X-Bow, Mortar, Hidden Tesla
- 25 more wall pieces to Town Hall 11
- Lots of upgrade costs and times reduced
- Rebalancing, including Witch and Skeleton Spell buffs
- Clan Wars loot and Clan XP rules revisited
- Continued balancing changes to Clan Wars matchmaking
The changes likewise include tweaks on Army Training for a more "streamlined experience" of the task. Supercell also now allows Quick Train, in which training of two armies, for instance, can be performed through two easy taps.
It is expected that the CoC October Update will be in full swing October 14 for majority of Clashers around, which according to Game 'N' Guide is in line with the advisory issued by Anoushka this week that the feature bumps will be rolled out between the 12th or 13th of the month.
Notable though in the updates provided is the fact that Supercell skipped on two things - no new hero and an additional Town Hall level. But the CoC developer made up by beefing on the current features of TH8 and TH11 and increasing the capabilities of combat figures specifically of the Witch. The rumored Free Gem mining did not materialize as well.
No doubt the core purpose of the Clash of Clans October 2016 Update was to keep the Clashers playing and lure in new gamers but it is a wonder, per Touch Arcade, if the feature jump will make CoC even more exciting. This in light of emerging rival mobile game like the AR-centric (augmented reality) Pokémon GO from Niantic Labs.
