The 2016 edition of the Survivor Series is expected to be the biggest in the event's history since it will be its 30th anniversary. SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon and general manager Daniel Bryan have already issued a challenge to Raw this past week.
Shane and Bryan challenged Raw commissioner Stephanie McMahon and general manager Mick Foley to three traditional Survivor Series matches. If Stephanie and Foley accept the challenge, they will have to bring together three teams composed of five male superstars, five female superstars and five tag teams.
Survivor Series 2016 is expected to be a four-hour show and it will likely have seven or more matches, per Blake Ostreicher of Forbes. He suggested some of the possible matches that could be included in the event's match card.
1. Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg
2. Kevin Owens (c) vs. Chris Jericho for the WWE Universal Championship
3. A.J. Styles (c) vs. Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship
4. Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship
5. Male Superstars Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Match
- Team Raw: Neville, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Rusev and Sami Zayn
- Team SmackDown: John Cena, Luke Harper, Kane, Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt
6. Female Superstars Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Match
- Team Raw: Sasha Banks, Bayley, Charlotte, Emmalina and Nia Jax
- Team SmackDown: Nikki Bella, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, Becky Lynch and Naomi
7. Tag Teams Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Match
- Team Raw: Enzo Amore & Big Cass, Cesaro & Sheamus, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, The New Day and The Shining Stars
- Team SmackDown: American Alpha, Heath Slater & Rhyno, The Ascension, The Hype Bros and The Usos
It should be noted that these are just purely speculative as the WWE tends to change their plans almost on a daily basis. However, only one match for Survivor Series is all but locked in and that is the Lesnar vs. Goldberg rematch.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Goldberg has already signed a deal with the WWE and the official announcement is going to be on Monday in the October 17 episode of Raw. He is only scheduled to wrestle one match but he would appear on several shows.
