The Android 7.1 Nougat OS is initially introduced exclusively for Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphone but Google started rolling out the new software for Nexus devices. However, other smartphone manufacturers have confirmed the Android 7.0 Nougat roadmap for their devices, particularly for OnePlus after rumors that one of their devices will be competing against Google Pixel and iPhone 7.
While there is still no clear fact about the release date of the OnePlus 3 Nougat Update, the company confirmed that its team of manufacturers are 'actively working' on the upgrade. During a Reddit AMA, OnePlus delivered the announcement with a short teaser clip on Twitter, with OnePlus CEO Pete Lau.
According to MobiPicker, the new update will add several features to the OnePlus X, including Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow upgrade, launcher upgrades, new icon packs, Google search bar UI customization, Shelf UX improvements, General system performance improvement, Settings changes, New (native Android) app permissions, New Alert Slider settings with more customization options, OnePlus music player, OnePlus gallery, October Android security patches, gesture optimizations, and general bug fixes.
Furthermore, new information coming from an analyst from China, Pan Jiutang, reveals that OnePlus may soon reveal OnePlus 3 Plus. It is expected to come with superior specifications and features that will battle Google's Pixel and Apple's iPhone 7.
YIBADA reported that the OnePlus 3 Plus is expected to come with some improvements over the OnePlus 3. OnePlus 3 has a 5.5-inch full HD resolution supporting display. Its SD 820 chipset is coupled with 6 GB of RAM, and it will pack a 64 GB internal memory, expandable to 128 GB, and a 3,000 MAH battery.
In addition, the said OnePlus 3 Plus is expected to support quad HD resolution on its 5.5-inch screen. It may include a preinstalled Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
Meanwhile, the company is rumored to manufacture the device's predecessor. OnePlus 4 will come in an aluminum curved body, a decent 5.5 inch OLED display with 4K resolution and Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The OnePlus 3 successor is expected to sport Qualcomm's next-generation high-end Snapdragon 830 processor.
While there has been no official information shared about the phone or its release date, rumored specs for the much-awaited OnePlus 4 have hinted that it will be a flagship killer.
