Chinese Administration Brings Forth Phone Registration Deadline for Users

A deadline has been posed by the administration which threatens to disconnect phones. Local phone users were warned by the administration about their services getting terminated by the end of the year if they fail to register themselves with telecom service providers.

The deadline was brought forward by six months as the country further suppressed the telecom deception.

Last May all telecom companies had to ensure that 95 percent of their users were registered with valid information and this had to be raised to a 100 percent before June 30, 2017 as asked by The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The ministry declared that this was to execute anti-terrorism statutory laws and protect Internet security. But a new notice was issued on September 23 by the ministry and other five government departments: The Supreme Court, Supreme procurator, the Ministry of Public Security, the People's Bank of China and Chine Banking Regulatory Commission.

In order to prevent any telecom deceit, this new bill asked all the telecom companies to have 100 percent of their users registered under their actual names.

The public is repeatedly calling out for measures to be taken against the malefactors of online frauds as they're not easily traced because of their false names or having no name registered at all.

According to Shanghai Daily, Chinese telecom users should take their SIM cards and ID cards to register at telecom companies while foreigners are cordially asked to please bring their passports along with their SIM cards.

All users are welcome to call at their respective telecom companies to check whether their names have been properly registered or to find out how they should register themselves.

According to the new rules, all users will get new SIM cards only after service providers confirm their identities via ID cards or passports.
