Despite mixed reactions from fans of the "Star Wars" franchise, the "Han Solo" movie is moving forward. After granting the titular role to young actor Alden Ehrenreich, the search is on for the role of Lando Calrissian as well as a mysterious female lead.
Having Lando Calrissian in the "Han Solo" movie is a no-brainer. Although the cassanova from Cloud City only appeared in "The Empire Strikes Back," it's been made clear that he had a long history with Han Solo, which presumably going to be explored in the movie.
The current code name going around casting circles for the young version of Lando is "Chance." One of the actors rumored to be attached to the role is Donald Glover who is best known for his role as Troy in the NBC series "Community" and astrophysicist Rich Purnell in "The Martian."
The 32-year-old star is reportedly high on the list, but Disney and Lucasfilm still want to do a second round of tests before they make the final decision.
Glover spoke to TIME about the rumors regarding the role, during which he revealed his love for the franchise.
"Yep. There are rumours," Glover said. "I mean, I grew up on [Star Wars]. My dad was a big fan. I had all the toys when I was little. I had a Darth Vader with the lightsaber he has. It was cool. It's a dynasty. It's like the bible. I love that franchise."
On the other hand, notable young actresses have also auditioned for the female lead in the "Han Solo" movie. According to Variety, Tessa Thompson ("Selma"), Zoe Kravitz ("X-Men: First Class") and Naomi Scott ("Power Rangers") have auditioned for the female lead. Little else is revealed about the said character.
So far, Ehrenreich is the only one confirmed for the "Han Solo" movie. He beat a long list of prominent young stars for the iconic role, including Dave Franco, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Scott Eastwood, Emory Cohen, Logan Lerman, Jack Reynor and Blake Jenner. Around 3,000 actors auditioned for the part. The 26-year-old "Hail, Ceasar!" actor was the first person the studio saw for the role.
