The redesigned MacBook Pro 2016 will not only unbox with an OLED touch bar that boasts of reconfigurable function keys but also of a full dynamic keyboard with "contextual keys that can be customized to a user's preference." And release date of the device seems imminent as new deals on old models continue to surface.
In a report, 9to5Mac said there is a possibility that the MacBook Pro 2016 will unpack boasting of dynamic keyboard that changes functions depending on the active tasks on the laptop screen. The technology will likely come from Foxconn's division Sonder, which according to the report is currently selling a standalone keyboard with similar features.
"Sonder Keyboard ... has been in talks with Apple related to its dynamic keyboard technology," the report said, adding that the keyboard maker provided confirmation that Apple and Foxconn officials have already held a series of meeting on the matter.
"Apple is reportedly interested in using a laptop module Sonder has built for OEMs," 9to5Mac said. But it remains unclear how exactly the Sonder dynamic keyboard will be implemented in the upcoming Macs though the report speculated that "perhaps Apple is exploring entirely dynamic keyboards for future laptop models."
The exciting Magic Keyboard may find its way to the upcoming MacBooks or in future iterations of the Mac line, the report said.
And in case the feature will materialize, it will join the already jam-packed specs and feature upgrades rumored for the MacBook Pro 2016. The next-gen MacOS Sierra laptop is said to pack Touch ID unlocking and security sensor embedded on its power button, Siri for Mac that allows hand-free laptop navigation and AMD Polaris 11 GPU that will be exclusive on the high-end 15-inch form factor.
Well-known Apple watcher Ming-chi Kuo has also predicted that the MacBook Pro 2016 when unpacked will be slimmer and lighter than the past versions, and the redesigned was made possible with the use of both an AMD graphics card and any of the Intel Kaby Lake or Skylake processing chip.
Analysts said that Apple's October 27 will introduce the MacBook Pro 2016, igniting speculations that release date of the line is happening real soon, and further supported by the fresh round of deals on old MacBooks Pros pointed to by Apple Insider. Discounts on the promo can go as high as $166 with free sales tax and shipping.
