In a new sneak peek, Joan arrives with Shinwell at his new home. Her sister Lin has helped her find the place.

"I know it is not much but the price is right," Joan says as they walk in the apartment.
However, Shinwell wants to know if the new landlord knows that he is an ex-convict and out on parole.
Joan tells him that the landlord is aware of his situation and her sister has vouched for him.
In the video, Joan tries to cheer him up. "It's like we're coming from multiple gunshot wounds. You don't just go from rebuilding your organs to running a marathon overnight. It's a process." Joan says.
"Holmes is kidnapped by the leader of a local street gang who wants Sherlock to find the person responsible for a hit on the gang. But the abduction leads Holmes and Watson to get caught up in the search for a priceless, centuries-old artifact. Meanwhile, Shinwell asks Joan for a favor that may be out of her comfort zone," reads the synopsis for "Elementary Season 5, episode 2.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lucy Liu, who portrays Joan, talked about the new character Shinwell.
"He is bringing with him an extra layer for both of us in different ways," Liu said.
She stated that Joan helped him while he was in the hospital. "She performed this incredible surgery on him and saved his life. I think in some ways she thinks that she can help manage or bring him to a level where he wants to make a change, which is what he claims he wants to do."
"Elementary" Season 5 episodes air Sundays on at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
