tvN's "The K2," which premiered on Sept. 23, continues to rule in viewership ratings. The on-going political drama stars Ji Chang-Wook and Girls' Generation's Im Yoona.
The 8th episode of "The K2," which aired on Oct. 15, Saturday, recorded nationwide ratings of 7.4 percent. It is a 2.06 percent increase from the show's 7th episode. Although the figures were lower than the weekday viewership ratings, "The K2" scored the highest percentile during its timeslot.
Recently, the "Healer" actor expressed his deepest gratitude to the fans and viewers of "The K2." Speaking before a group of local reporters, Ji sends his sincere gratitude to all who acknowledge his hard work in the tvN political drama.
"While I didn't select this production because I expected to be lauded, I want to thank everyone for their praise," Soompi quoted Ji as saying. "I will continue to work hard so I can keep on hearing praise."
The "Empress Ki" actor then told his fans not to worry too much, assuring them the action scenes is filmed much more advanced than they would expect. Ji added he had a lot of fun in between takes alongside his female co-stars.
In the tvN drama, Ji portrays an employee under the JSS Security, Kim Je-Ha, who is a former mercenary soldier. He gets entangled in a political family that is full of secrets after Choi Yoo Jin (Song Yun-Ah) employed him to guard her husband's secret illegitimate daughter, Go An-Na (Yoona).
Ji, who initially rose to widespread fame in 2010-2011's "Smile Again," previously revealed that "The K2" would be his last acting drama, All Kpop reported. In the midst of the show's press conference on Sept. 20, Ji admitted that "The K2" was the hardest drama among all the projects he has done so far.
The Hallyu star revealed he worked out so much for the titular role by practicing a lot of martial arts in the action school for almost two months. It was so difficult it made him resolve to never do another action drama in the future, Ji added.
