The mobile game "Candy Crush Saga," which took the world by storm when it came out, is now being developed to become a TV game show and CBS is the one producing the game turned TV show, Kotaku reported.
According to Kotaku, Television network giant CBS revealed in a press statement earlier this week that after the 18 billion rounds of playing the game and a handful of spin-offs created, network heads think that it is fair to say they can turn the game into a game show and people will still love it.
Matt Kunitz, who is the mastermind of hit TV game shows such as "Wipe Out" and "Fear Factor," among others, will be the executive producer of the "Candy Crush" TV show. He claimed how the new show will be a perfect fit for CBS.
"The Candy Crush franchise lends itself perfectly to the kind of larger-than-life, physical game shows that I love to produce and CBS is the perfect home for it," Kunitz revealed.
In the same statement, the executive producer revealed how the network prepared a monstrous game arena just for the show, which led fans of the game to become more excited about it. He stated in a press statement how excited he is for the show.
"As a Candy Crush Saga player myself, I am excited to amp up the action and visuals in our huge Candy Crush Arena," he revealed.
"We are huge fans of Candy Crush and, like so many others, we know the 'rush' of advancing to the next level of the game," CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller revealed in a report by Variety.
Consequently, CBS teamed up with Lionsgate Television and game producer King to turn the mobile app into a very interesting hour-long program that intends to entertains as much people there is who plays the game, a report from The Verge revealed.
So, how will the candy-matching game be entertaining in real life? According to the report, teams will battle each other in a life-size board game where a "next generation" technology, different from the usual TV shows, will be involved.
"In the series, the game that has become a worldwide phenomenon comes to life as teams of two people use their wits and physical agility to compete on enormous, interactive game boards featuring next generation technology to conquer CANDY CRUSH and be crowned the champions," the press release of the "Candy Crush" TV show continued.
