Ronda Rousey is set to make her long-awaited return to the UFC this December as she squares off with reigning UFC Women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes. Conor McGregor is one of many interested spectators though the Irishman offers some advice for “Rowdy’s” return.
Most are aware that Rousey was sent spiraling back to earth following her UFC 193 loss to Holly Holm in November 2016. It was Rousey’s first UFC loss which she took hard. In fact, it came to a point that she considered suicide though she managed to get back to her senses.
Nothing has been heard of from Rousey for several months as she attended to her film commitments. Rumored returns came but nothing was made official. That was until UFC president Dana White formally announced her return for UFC 207 and immediately for the UFC Women’s bantamweight title, the New York Times reported.
It may be make or break for Rousey against Nunes where a loss could spell the end of his UFC career. But until that happens, UFC flyweight champion Conor McGregor urges Rousey to get up and prove her critics wrong.
McGregor is a testament on why one loss should not keep one down. Like Rousey, “The Notorious” was previously undefeated before bowing to Nate Diaz at UFC 196. That loss humbled McGregor for a time but the Irishman was able to overcome and get his feet back on the ground. He avenged his loss at UFC 202 against Diaz and is now set to move on and face Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title.
"I'd tell her to go shut them all up now," McGregor was quoted of saying, SI reported. "Shut them all up. Go and stake your claim again."
McGregor is aware that losses can take its toll on people, something that would vary. While he and Rousey are two different people, the fact is he believes “Rowdy” can rise up to the challenge and prove to one and all that she is still among the UFC’s top stars.
