Google's Gboard iOS keyboard will now work with the 3DS Touch, includes the iOS 10 emoji, and it will have the new themes. The new update also lets users have the ability to search and share their contacts directly.
According to the official website of iTunes, the Gboard is a new keyboard from Google for the iPhone. The latest update to it has introduced the 3D Touch, which lets users move the cursor by hard pressing the screen. They can slide their finger around the keyboard to put the location they want to land on.
The 3D touch just lacks the free-floating cursor of Apple's stock keyboard. It also simply moves left and right throughout a message, without the ability to track upwards and downwards.
With the 1.2.0 update, it has added the support for Apple's new iOS 10 emojis. It also has added a feature where users can search and share their contacts directly from within the keyboard. The users must first go to the Gboard app, tap search settings and activate Contacts search to use the feature.
The latest update added new themes to the app as well like a collection of new Landscape images. Users can download and add them onto the Gboard with the tap of a button. They can now customize their Gboards to their own personal taste.
The Gboard is designed to have privacy and security for their users. The things that are typed by them will be regarded as private information, which is why they will keep it private.
In regards to privacy, Gboard sends the users' searches to Google's servers to give them search results. It sends the usage statistics to them to them know which features are used most often. This will also help them understand the issues the app has when it crashes.
Gboard will not send anything else other than the users' searches, whether it's a password or a chat with someone else. The app will remember the word that they type to help them with the spelling or predict the searches they might be interested in, but it will be stored in the device. That data cannot be accessed by Google or any other apps.
According to the official website of Google, the Gboard app can be downloaded for free. Interested users can download the app from the App Store and install it afterwards. It is available for iPhones and iPads with iOS 9+.
