Liverpool is currently at the fourth spot of the English top flight table after going on a six-game unbeaten streak since dropping a 0-2 match to newly-promoted side Burnley during the team's second round fixture.
The Reds are coming off a goalless draw with Manchester United in a high-profile encounter also at the Anfield on Monday, as per SkySports.
United goalkeeper David De Gea prevented Liverpool from scoring the win as the Spanish shot-stopper blocked two late chances by the Reds, denying head coach Jürgen Klopp's squad the opportunity to go up to the second spot behind Manchester City in the overall standings.
Manchester United controlled ball possession for much of the match, especially in the first half as the visitors started strongly. However, the hosts were able to fend off the Red Devils' attacks led by striker Zlatan Ibrahimović, who missed a simple header early in the second half which would have been the game-winner.
Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana missed the game for Liverpool, which limited Klopp's attacking options throughout the game.
Meanwhile, West Brom held contending team Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 tie at their home field of the Hawthorns last Saturday to settle for their third straight drawn match, the Mirror reported.
The game was scoreless for most of the time until former Tottenham midfielder now West Brom winger Nacer Chadli broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute with a rebound goal against his former captain Hugo Lloris.
However, the Spurs found the equalizer with only a minute left before full-time to salvage the draw and a share of a point in the overall standings.
West Brom is currently at the 12th spot of the league table.
