The Chicago Cubs World Series Chances
Chicago Cubs World Series chances will ride on their ability to beat Los Angeles lefty Clayton Kershaw. The three-time Cy Young winning pitcher is the only thing standing in the Cubs path to reaching the World Series for the first time since 1945.
Kershaw who was masterful in game two beating the Cubs 1-0 at Wrigley field in Chicago earlier in the series. The big man will be working on his normal five days rest.
Chicago was able to take two games of three on the road at Los Angeles's, Dodger stadium and still retain home field advantage.
Obviously, the Cubs like their chance at home in game six, but the Dodgers have to like their chances with their ace toeing the rubber for them.
"We've got Clayton going in Game 6," Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts said. "So that's a game we expect to win."
It will be a monumental task taking down the big lefty wearing Dodger blue, but with that being said, it may be a more daunting task trying to win a game seven at Wrigley with so much talk of a curse linger throughout the city.
The Cubs know that game six of the National League Championship Series will be their best chance at putting the curse talk to rest is by beating the best southpaw on the planet right now.
If you look deeper at the numbers, up until this year Kershaw hasn't been exactly lights out in post-season play in the past. With a 4-6 record and 4.39 ERA. If the wrong Kershaw shows up, it has to bode well for the Cubbies.
Also, the Cubs have slated for them a who happens the have the lowest earned run average in all of baseball this year, Kyle Hendrick
The Cubs had to know that Kershaw would be the one guy that they had to get by in a seven game series in order to get to the World Series.
This is everything you want a post-season series to be. Even though the Cubs have the humungous task of beating Kershaw .you got to like their chances compared to having to beat the perceived curse if they are forced into a game seven.
