Middlesbrough is struggling at the moment as the team has been winless in their last seven matches after a 2-1 win over cellar-dwelling Sunderland in the second round.
It remained to be the only victory of Boro so far in this term and head coach Aitor Karanka's squad will try to earn their second one in this match against Bournemouth.
Boro is actually coming off an impressive performance as they held top contenders Arsenal to a 0-0 tie on the road at the Emirates Stadium last Saturday, SkySports reported.
The team dominated the Gunners for the whole match as they were more aggressive than the hosts from the kickoff. In the first half, Uruguayan midfielder twice went close to scoring while Spanish winger Adama Traore almost beat Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech in a one-on-one move.
Unfortunately for Boro, no one was able to hit a goal as the team settled for the share of a point in the overall standings for the second time in three games.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth is on a four-game unbeaten streak as they climbed to the 10th spot of the league table. The team is undefeated in five of their last six matches.
Their most recent game ended in a goalless draw with contending team Tottenham Hotspur at their home field of Vitality Stadium last Saturday, as per the Daily Star.
Tottenham was the aggressor in the game but Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc was able to hold his own against the Spurs' attackers throughout the match.
English defender Charlie Daniels almost scored the winning goal in the fifth minute, but his shot was tipped away by Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris off the crossbar.
