After several months off air, the second half of "Vikings" Season 4 has finally been given a release date. We've got the lowdown on everything you need to know about History's period drama.
The midseason premiere will follow the final events of the Season 4A, during which Ragnar returns to Kattegat after years of absence without leave. He returns to see his sons all grown-up, all of whom have developed a desire to take his place as king. Ragnar is also faced with unfinished business with King Ecbert in Wessex.
Lagertha, on the other hand, hatches a plan to rise to power in Kattegat. Her son with Ragnar, Bjorn, is also on a quest of his own, which is to fulfill his life-long dream of exploring the Mediterranean using a new boat designed and built for him by Floki.
Based on officially "Vikings" Season 4B photos released earlier, Ragnar, Lagertha and Floki will begin to age, and they appear slightly weathered and
"This season is monumental and unlike anything we've ever done," creator Michael Hirst says, quotes TV Fanatic. "We've propelled Vikings to the topmost level of historical drama as we follow storylines inspired by real life events such as Bjorn Ironside sailing through the Mediterranean and Ivar the Boneless becoming the most feared warrior of all time. It's not a story of one man, but a saga of Ragnar and his sons."
Speaking of Ivar the Boneless, he is expected to be Ragnar's new favorite son, and possibly a fan-favorite among fans of the show. "The thing which separates Ivar from the other brothers is he understands Ragnar and he does not respect him in the same way as the other brothers," actor Alex Høgh Andersen tells IGN about his role. "He's making fun of him. He's a little bit like Ragnar is to everybody else, and for once Ragnar experiences someone like him toward him. It's pretty new and interesting."
Admirably, Ivar is a strong force despite of his limpness. Although he is physically weak, his mind is stronger than anyone else's, which is why Ragnar is impressed with him and eventually develops a fondness for his son.
"Vikings" Season 4B premieres on Nov. 30 on History.
