Palermo actually drew first blood in the contest as Macedonian forward Ilija Nestorovski broke the deadlock in the 10th minute with a left-footer from the center of the goal.
French striker Cyril Thereau was able to equalize the game in the 36th minute to make it a 1-1 count for both sides at halftime.
Head coach Luigi Delneri's boys then unloaded two goals in the second half, courtesy of a brace from Thereau's compatriot, midfielder Seko Fofana, in the 74th and 79th minutes, to build a two-point lead with time running out in the match.
