The immense success of KBS 2TV's "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" catapulted Park Bo-Gum to the top spot in Korean Business Research's brand reputation. The 23-year-old Hallyu star nabbed the number one spot for brand power among Korean actors in the month of October.
On Oct. 29, Saturday, the Korean Business Research Institute released their findings with respect to the brand reputation rankings for the month of October. It is based on 34,665,904 pieces of data gathered from Sept. 27 to Oct. 28.
Park came in first place with a total brand reputation score of 8,618,542 points, which is a 453.95 percent increase in his score of 2,675,514 for the month of August, Naver TV reported. Following him is South Korean chef Baek Jong-Won and "Descendants of the Sun" actor Song Joong-Ki in the second and third place, respectively.
A source from the Korean Business Research Institute stated Park reached the top spot in the brand reputation chart because of the impressive popularity of the KBS historical drama. It is said the Hallyu star is loved by many individuals across different age groups and that it is helpful in increasing sales as a spokesmodel.
"Park Bo Gum became the talk of the town following his drama 'Reply 1988' and his recent drama 'Moonlight Drawn by Clouds'," local newsoutlet Xports News quoted the source as saying, as cited by Soompi. "Thus, a new term called 'Park Bo Gum Effect' was created."
Actor Kang Don- Won came in fourth place, while "Train to Busan" star Gong Yoo and comedian Yoo Jae Suk is in the fifth and sixth spot. IU, who recently portrayed Hae-Soo in "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," came in seventh place along with Ryu Jun Yeol and Kim Soo-Hyun in the eighth and ninth spot, respectively.
Park, who debuted as an actor in the 2011 thriller film "Blind," experienced tremendous growth in his popularity throughout Asia after he portrayed Crown Prince Lee Yeong in KBS2's "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds." The historical drama ended up with impressive viewership ratings of 25.3 percent on Oct. 18.
