Disney star Zendaya Coleman is definitely on a roll. After bagging a role in the upcoming Marvel film, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and a runner-up finish in Season 16 of "Dancing With the Stars," it has been confirmed that her Disney Channel show "K.C. Undercover" has been renewed for Season 3.
The hit spy comedy/action series features Coleman as K.C. Cooper, a high school math genius and martial arts expert recruited by a top-secret government agency called The Organization to become an undercover super spy. Cooper follows in the footsteps of her parents, who were also spies, and maintains a balance between her teenage life and performing missions to save the world.
"K.C. Undercover," which debuted in January 2015, is created by Corinne Marshall and has been a good performer for Disney Channel. The series drew in more than 2 million viewers during the Season 2 premiere in March, according to TV Line. The show has touched 106 million viewers in total across all Disney Channel platforms, which includes linear viewing, video-on-demand and the Disney Channel app.
Coleman will not only be associated with the project in an acting capacity, but will also serve as a producer on the upcoming season. In addition to the "Shake It Up" star, the show also stars Veronica Dunne, Kadeem Hardison, Kamil McFadden, Trinitee Stokes and Tammy Townsend.
"We're very proud of the success of 'K.C. Undercover' and how popular it is across our different platforms," Disney Channels Worldwide executive vice president of original programming Adam Bonnett told Variety. "The series will continue to deliver action sequences that push the boundaries of the multi-camera genre with the same great quality storytelling and talented cast led by the incomparable Zendaya and executive producer Rob Lotterstein."
Coleman will next be seen as Spider-Man's love interest Mary Jane Watson in Sony's upcoming superhero reboot. The Disney darling's casting faced backlash from social media users, as Watson is traditionally a redheaded Caucasian. For more details on that story, watch the video below:
