Several rumors are making rounds regarding a leaked character and cast sheet for Marvel Studios new Spider-Man film, "Spider-Man: Homecoming as someone from Reddit posted a photo, which went viral online.
The cast and character sheet for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" some of the cast members and their roles for the movie for instance Angourie Rice will be playing Betty Brandt who is a friend and co-worker of Peter Parker (Tom Holland) at the Daily Bugle in the comics, Bokeem Woodbine as Herman Schultz/Shocker, one of the villains Spider-Man will face in the move, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Peter's friend, Laura Harrier as Liz Allan and Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, who both are Peter's batchmates in high school.
The other cast members are revealed to be part of Peter's school, Midtown Science and Technology School as the cast include "New Black" star Selenis Leyva playing Ms. Warren, comedian Martin Starr playing Mr. Harrington, fellow comedian Hannibal Buress playing Coach Wilson, actor/singer Tunde Adebimpe as Mr. Cobwell and Kenneth Choi as Principle Morita.
It is yet to be determined if this is the actual cast and character sheet for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" as Marvel has not yet made any statement regarding the leaked sheet.
In other news, the casting of Disney channel star and pop singer Zendaya as Mary Jane Watson has sparked some controversy among the comic book community.
Zendaya's character was under the name of Michelle as several comic book fans speculated that she will be Peter's love interest in the movie. It turns out that "Michelle" was actually a cover for her real character who happens to be Spider-Man's greatest love interest, Mary Jane Watson.
"Melancholia" star Kirsten Dunst famously played the role of Mary Jane Watson during Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man trilogy" opposite Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
While several people showed support the casting of Zendaya as the Mary Jane Watson, some disliked the idea and became vocal about it, voicing displeasure over the change to the character who traditionally has white skin and red hair.
Now a prominent figure over at Marvel Studios gave his personal opnion on Zendaya, and changes to Mary Jane Watson for the film as "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn as he took to social media and explained his thoughts about it.
Gunn stated that if a character's primary attribute, the thing that makes them iconic is the color of their skin, or their hair color, which he considered "shallow". For him, what makes Mary Jane Watson unique is her alpha female playfulness, and if the actress captures that, then it works.
The "Guardians of the Galaxy" director commented that Zendaya will do well as Mary Jane citing her physical attributes and youth. Gunn added that people must embrace the diversity of characters as being more reflective a diverse present world, Cinemablend reported.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be release on July 7, 2017.
