New details for the "Spider-Man 2017" film will feature a new cast member, cameo appearances from Captain America and Iron Man, and a revival of the "Venom" spin-off.
The new trailer of "Captain America: Civil War" saw the debut of Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe complete with his signature webs and a brand new costume. The inclusion of Peter Parker/Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was the result of the deal made by both Marvel Studios and Sony.
With Spider-Man officially part of the MCU, it seems that the new "Spider-Man" 2017 reboot could be in production soon as Disney channel star and pop-singer Zendaya joins the cast. Accoring to Deadline, Zendaya will be playing a character named "Michelle" and described as having a "key role" within the film.
It is unknown yet if the "Shake It Up" star's role in the "Spider-Man 2017" film could be a new romantic interest for Peter Parker (Holland) in the MCU contrasting that likes of Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy, or a tweak of the Marvel comics character Michele Gonzales, who happens to be Peter's roommate at one point and had an infamous one night stand with him.
Aside from the new cast member, two Avenger members will likely make an appearance in the "Spider-Man 2017" reboot as "Avengers" stars Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. stated in an interview that they will be going back in Atlanta for another shoot this year.
Fans speculated that both Evans and RDJ film shoot in Atlanta could be reprising their roles as Steve Rogers/Captain America and Tony Stark/Iron Man in the "Spider-Man 2017" film since the first production of the movie will take place there sometime this year. Both Captain America and Iron Man will be featured in the upcoming phase 3 film, "Captain America: Civil War" on May.
In other news, Sony looks to revive another "Spider-Man" spin-off film as the company hired Danter Harper to write the script for "Venom" movie.
The "Venom" spin-off film will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, which is centered on one of Spider-Man's arch-nemesis Venom. The film is unrelated to the "Spider-Man 2017" reboot in the MCU, thus making a standalone film, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Sony previously teased several "Spider-Man" related projects such as "Venom" and the "Sinister Six" films, but were scrapped due to the mediocre success of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" film. The plot details for the "Venom" spin-off has not been revealed and fans are looking forward to Sony's interpretation of the symbiote anti-hero.
Spider-Man will appear first in "Captain America: Civil War" on May 6, 2016 and his new solo film on July 28, 2017.
