New details for the"Sword Art Online" anime movie will feature a new trailer and release date for the film, as well as "Alicization" arc and "Progressive" novels for season 3.
It seems that release date for the "Sword Art Online" movie has been announced on 2017 during the Dengeki Bunko Haru no Saiten 2016 event last week. The official title of the "SAO" movie is called "Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale" as the plot of the anime movie will feature Kiriito, Asuna and their friends embark on a new journey as they play a new MMORPG video game, "Ordinal Scale.
Kirito and his friends will be using a new VR headset device called "Augma", which is specifically made for the "Ordinal Scale" as they can play the game and have their rank raise when defeating monsters and using items, AnimeNewsNetwork reported.
Both Kirito and Asuna will be sporting new oufits within "Ordinal Scale" as seen in the photo above and Aniplex USA began streaming a new trailer for the "Sword Art Online" anime film which features that past games such as the fairy world of "ALfhiem Online" and gun-themed world of "Gun Gale Online". The film will take place after the "Monster's Rosario" arc in "SAO" season 2 anime.
Anime novel creator Reki Kawahara will be writing the original story for "Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale", while Tomohiko Ito will helm the film. Shingo Adachi will handle the character designs, while Yuki Kajuira will handle the music of the film.
The official website for upcoming Sakura Con event announced that more information about "Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale" will be revealed soon as Kawahara, KADOKAWA CORPORATION ASCII Media Works Producer Kazuma Miki, Aniplex Producer Shinichiro Kashiwada and "SAO" original character designer abec will be appear in the event.
In other news, it seems that the plot details for "Sword Art Online" season 3 could be based on the "Alicization" arc as producer Shinichiro Kashiwada stated in an interview that he would like to see Kirito and the rest of 'SAO' characters featured in the storyline since is not yet incorporated in the anime show.
However, Kashiwada added they "Progressive" novels could also be included in season 3, thus the show will feature the latter and "Alicization" arc within the show.
So far, it is unknown yet what kind of plot will be featured in "Sword Art Online" season 3 now that the anime production is now focused on the new "SAO" anime movie.
Anime fans would hope that they will hear more details for "Sword Art Online" season 3 at the upcoming Sakura Con event on March 25-27 at the Washington State Convention Center.
