Followers will able to see a glimpse of the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti, the company's upcoming most powerful graphics card, once it is revealed by January 2017. Although no official confirmation has been made by NVIDIA, fans are likely predicting the tech company will be addressing some breaking news related to it.
Since NVIDIA co-founder and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang will be delivering a keynote speech in the next Consumer Electronics Show in January, avid NVIDIA followers are expecting Huang will not only be making a speech but will also announce something satisfying for the audience.
This belief is wrapped around the expectation that the GTX 1080 Ti will finally be unveiled. The event anticipates more than 165,000 of attendees since it will be offering more than 2.4 million net square feet of exhibitions. The CES 2017 is also presuming 6,500 reporters coming from different parts of the world according to a blog posted by NVIDIA.
It can be recalled that last year, the supercomputer of self-driving cars was launched. In the upcoming year, majority believes the product that will be featured has something to do with the tech company's graphic card.
According to WCCFTech, the GTX 1080 Ti will be packed with 3328 CUDA cores, 12 GB of GDDR 5X memory, 1.6 Ghz boost clock and 10.8 TFLOPS horsepower. Though its specs are a few notches lower than the Titan X Pascal, the graphics card still contains NVIDIA's flagship processing unit, the GP102.
The same report stated that in terms of computing power, the GP102 has exactly 50% more than that of GP104. The GP104 is the processing unit installed both in the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070 graphic cards. With the GP102's power, it is exactly more than half of GP104's capabilities in terms of CUDA cores, TMUS and ROPs, cache, and memory interface.
As of the moment, its specifications are still speculations. Its potential unveiling in the CES 2017 has also not yet been green lit. With this, fans are advised to take everything with a pinch of salt as significant changes may transpire in the coming months.
