Zotac has just announced its new VR GO backpack PC, which is designed for dedicated gamers and VR enthusiasts. The pinnacle if its superiority lies in its integration of NVidia's GeForce GTX 1070 along with a quad-core CPU and rich I/O capabilities.
The incorporation of the GTX 1070 graphics card means that gamers will play the most challenging and graphics-intensive games without missing a bit. The card has been known to deliver incredible speeds, even beating previous-generation cards by up to three times performance.
Besides the GTX 1070, Zotac VR GO backpack PC is equipped with a quad-core Intel CPU, and a hot-swappable battery. It can, as well, be used as a desktop computer, which singles it out from early PC prototypes that used the same wearable VR technology, according to Tech Report.
ZOTAC is recognized for its high-performance Small Form-Factor (SFF) PCs and graphics cards. However, as far as wearable systems are concerned, the company has not been in the limelight.
Therefore, to develop the VR GO backpack PC, it had to use the experience it had obtained from building SFF systems for gamers. it had also to find the best ways of minimizing the VR GO's weight and build an uncompromising design that can stand up to the harsh treatment of gaming sessions.
To fulfill such requirements, ZOTAC had to fix every component tightly inside the box while keeping an eye on the efficiency of the cooling system. It made sure that one side of the VR GO had the appropriate ports for the convenience of the VR headset connection.
For this reason, Zotac's VR GO backpack PC has one of its sides incorporated with two USB 3.0 ports, a single HDMI output, along with a power connector. The positioning of the three has been made to simplify the cable management, making VR gaming with a backpack PC seem more on edge.
VR GO also comes with a battery pack, which is removable to enable autonomy in operation during its lifetime. According to An and Tech, although the VR GO backpack PC is acclaimed for its VR support, it was not sensible for Zotac to make it entirely for this reason.
So the company made the VR GO as an powerful all-inclusive PC that can be used as a desktop computer as well. It harbors additional USB 3.0/3.1 Type-A connectors, four additional display outputs (two DP, two HDMI), an SD card reader, two 3.5mm audio jacks, and two GbE ports.
Zotac has not yet communicated the exact release date of the VR GO although it is predicted to arrive in Q4 2016. Here is a clip of more details:
