The Undertaker has been absent on WWE television for seven months but that is about to change on November 15 as he is set to appear in the 900th episode of SmackDown Live. The latest rumors suggest that The Undertaker might be set to interfere in the Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg match at the Survivor Series.
The WWE has officially confirmed The Undertaker's appearance on SmackDown Live on their website. It will be the first time fans are going to see him on television since defeating Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 32 in a Hell in a Cell Match.
"The Undertaker has long been a cornerstone of Team Blue, and his emergence on this special episode of SmackDown LIVE is undoubtedly linked to The Phenom's storied history with the brand," the announcement said.
According to The Inquisitr, The Deadman's return could lead to a match at Survivor Series with many rumors implying it to be against Randy Orton. It should be noted that Orton has joined The Wyatt Family and The Undertaker's return is the reason for it.
However, several reports have confirmed that The Viper will miss the Survivor Series even on November 20 because his wife is going to give birth. He will be on paternity leave and he is not scheduled to return until the November 29 episode of SmackDown Live.
The Undertaker still has a lot of drawing power and the WWE might be just using him to boost ratings. But an appearance at Survivor Series, the PPV wherein he made his debut in 1990, is not out of the question.
One possible scenario The Undertaker is going to be involved at the event is interfering in the Lesnar vs. Goldberg match. It has been rumored last month that the WWE is planning to have Goldberg face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33 next year.
If The Phenom indeed makes a return and help Lesnar win the match, it set ups the Goldberg match next year. However, it will also turn him heel since Goldberg is playing the face role in the feud with The Beast.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that these are just purely speculative at the moment and nothing is set in stone. Check out the video below to see The Undertaker's debut at Survivor Series 1990.
