BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys, sent out a thank you message to fans at home and abroad after their second studio album "Wings" has maintained its number one position in Billboard's World Albums chart. The said album was released on Oct. 10 with "Blood Sweat & Tears" as its first single.
For the week ending Nov. 5, BTS' "Wings" has managed to maintain its number one spot on Billboard's World Albums Chart. It was then followed by Damian McGinty's "This Christmas Time", Jay Park's "Everything You Wanted", DaVido "Son of Mercy (EP)" and David Maldonado's "Davicas."
Following the Billboard success of their second studio album, BTS' Rap Monster and Suga expressed deep gratitude to their fans during an interview with local newsoutlet OSEN, as cited by The Kpop Herald. The leader expressed his appreciation to their fan club, dubbed A.R.M.Y, who listened to their songs and responded with such hospitality.
"As a musician, I have long envisaged Billboard," Suga added. "I don't think BTS should take all the credit for this. Were it not for fans' love, it would have been impossible."
In light of their immense success, many are wondering whether the seven-member boy band will break into the American music market. Recently, Big Hit Entertainment President Bang Si-Hyuk talked about his stance on BTS' debut in the United States.
"A K-pop singer gaining attention in America's mainstream market with the genre of K-pop and competing with American mainstream artists with the goal of making an official debut overseas is completely different from the start," President Bang said in a statement obtained by All Kpop. "I think preparing an official debut overseas is yet excessive."
President Bang added that actively preparing for the American music market would seemingly be biting off more than what they can actually chew. Instead of making an international debut, Big Hit Entertainment will continue to focus on BTS' growth as a K-pop artists.
