tvN's bodyguard drama "The K2" has retained its top spot in the weekend drama ratings race for the seventh consecutive week. Girls Generation singer Yoona and Ji Chang Wook's series has been beaten other cable dramas such as "This Week, My Wife will have an Affair."
Girls Generation Yoona and Ji's tvN drama has enjoyed steady TV ratings since it aired its first episode in September. "The K2" posted viewership shares that ranged from 3 percent to more than 6 percent. The TV ratings may be small as compared to weekday drama, however, the said ratings are considered an impressive feat especially for a weekend cable series.
Latest IPTV ratings, as cited by Korea Herald, showed that episode 13 garnered an average viewership share of 5.1 percent. Some of the dramatic and suspenseful moments in the said tvN drama episode even managed to push TV ratings to a peak level of nearly 6 percent.
Aired on Nov. 4, the said episode featured the aftermath of Yoo Jin's (Song Yun Ah) statement that revealed Anna's (Yoona) true parentage. It also featured a heartbreaking father-daughter moment as Se Joon (Jo Sung Ha) tried to explain why he needed to lie to the press about Anna's mother to protect his political career.
"The K2" episode 13 also showed Yoona's impressive performance as her character accused Se Joon of throwing away his family to attain his political aspirations. Aside from the Girls Generation singer's emotional scene, her co-star Song also showcased her acting talent during Yoo Jin's tense confrontation with Anna.
In other news, Ji will soon make a special guest appearance in the reality variety show "We Got Married." The South Korean actor's agency Glorious Entertainment told local reporters that the "Healer" star recently wrapped up filming activities for the said show, All Kpop reported.
Ji's "We Got Married" cameo episode is expected to air in mid-November, while "The K2" will release its final two chapters on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 on tvN. Watch some of the highlights from the show's episode 14 below:
