It is not just the 12 women who accused Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump of sexual assault whom he threatened to sue. There is a long list of other institutions and people whom Trump had filed lawsuits for a range of charges.
According to Mother Jones, which publishes a daily dose of strange but true stories about the GOP nominee, he has also filed lawsuits against the New York Times for publishing a story about the sexual assaults, Univision, a bike race in Colorado named “Tour de Rump,” an architecture critic who said Trump has bad taste and a mortgage company.
As franchise holder of the Miss Universe pageant since 1996, Trump also filed lawsuits against 23 other beauty pageants whom the billionaire accused of infringing on the trademark of Miss USA which is owned by Miss Universe.
Most of these beauty contests had the terms Miss and USA, but he also filed a lawsuit against the Miss Multiverse in 2015, and the case is still pending in court. He won a lot of the lawsuits, but not the one against the Miss Nude Southern USA which he filed in 2003.
Trump’s lawyers insisted the pageant organizers just inserted the words NUDE SOUTHERN between “Miss” and USA.” However, the other pageant replied that “The strong primary noun NUDE and SOUTHERN arranged between MISS and USA, prima facie contravert any allegation of confusing similarity.” They reached a settlement eventually and Trump withdrew the lawsuit.
Despite many polls that say Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton had widened her lead over Trump, he insisted he would beat Clinton on Tuesday. CNN reported that Clinton has a lot more options to secure the 270 electoral voted needed to bring her back to the White House.
However, Trump, in his closing appearance, claimed the political system and media were rigged against him.
Outgoing U.S. President Barack Obama, in introducing Clinton, said, “We now have the chance to elect a 45th president who will build on our progress who will finish the job ... who is smart, who is steady and who is tested.” Obama added, "She will work, she will deliver. She won't just tweet.”
