Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer all tipped their hat to Andy Murray, who dethroned the Serb form the top spot of the ATP World Tour Rankings.
Djokovic has shown real class in losing the No. 1 spot to Murray, who toppled the Serb from the top of the world rankings after conquering the BNP Paribas Open in Paris. Murray's accomplishment ended Djokovic's reign of 122 weeks at the summit, but despite falling behind Murray in the rankings, the Belgrade native was happy at the Scot's latest success.
Djokovic was poised for a historical season after earning his first non-calendar Grand Slam following his victory at the French Open earlier this year. But the back end of his campaign this year has been extremely disappointing, particularly starting after winning his first title at Roland Garros.
Djokovic will have a chance to immediately snatch back his the No. 1 spot when he competes at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, where the 12-time Grand Slam winner also defends his crown at the season finale event.
Career rivals Federer and Nadal also congratulated Murray in capturing the top spot of the world rankings. Federer and Nadal, who are both out of the remainder of the season to recover from injuries, also took Twitter to commend the fruit of Murray's consistency this year.
Opposite to Murray's most recent achievement, Federer continues to slip down the ATP rankings. For the first time in 14 years, the Swiss Maestro is out of the top 10, dropping from ninth to 16th, his lowest since sitting at No. 13 back in 2002.
Federer will aim to make a return next year at the Australian Open, marking his 18th-straight appearance at the event.
Meanwhile, Nadal, who currently sits at No. 8 in the world rankings, also plans to return to tennis action as early as next month after skipping the rest of this year's tournaments to recover from a recurring left wrist injury. Nadal's next tournament coming off the injury will be at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.
