Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts stepped out together at the private screening of the upcoming film Moonlight, which lists Plan B, Pitt's company as one of the producers. It was his first public appearance amidst the nasty divorce and custody battle of his kids with Angelina Jolie.
The "Fight Club" actor was supported by his fellow A-lister friend, Roberts, who was there although she is not part of the film, according to TMZ. Pitt appeared gaunt and sad, but he still tried his best to smile in front of the camera. Pitt and Roberts posed for several snapshots, and many noticed their extra closeness as they hugged each other at the event.
It was Pitt's first appearance in public since his divorce with Jolie has been announced in September. Just hours before he appeared at the "Moonlight" screening, a rep for the "Maleficent" actress declared that Pitt and Jolie reached a settlement about the custody of their children.
"We can confirm that childcare professionals have encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides over a week ago," a rep for Jolie told PEOPLE. "In accordance with this agreement, the six children will stay in their mother's custody, and the children will continue therapeutic visits with their father. This has been determined by childcare professionals to be in the children's best interest."
Amidst the custody battle news, some insiders close to Pitt and Jolie asserted that the announcement was not final and only a part of the temporary agreement they made in October. There are also rumors that say that it is just a step as the former couple works for a long term settlement about the custody of their kids.
Jolie filed for a divorce on Sept. 19 citing irreconcilable differences. In the petition, she requested for a full physical custody of their kids: Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 15, Pax Jolie-Pitt, 12, Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 11, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 10, and Knox Jolie-Pitt and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, eight.
The divorce came after Jolie and Pitt were caught in an altercation while mid-air and Maddox was reportedly hurt. Several tabloids say that Jolie was concerned with their kids as they see Pitt being drowned by his addiction to alcohol and drugs.
The Pitt-Jolie divorce news escalated with some saying that Jolie was fed up with Pitt's weed and alcohol abuse. Her entertainment attorney Robert Offer confirmed that his client's decision to file for a divorce was for the health of the family.
