The recently concluded episode of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 focused on cruelty/war which is said to be the show's core theme.
In recap, "The Walking Dead" Season 7 episode 4 showed how despicable Negan can be in taunting his prey. Negan went to Alexandria doing a lot of nosing on their stuff and even made Rick hold his bat coupled with singing nursery rhymes while being threatened.
It seems that producers remain true to their usual style of chunking the story into specific stories. For instance, the story of Daryl and the Saviors, Carol and Morgan, and Maggie and Sasha. Among all, Negan and Daryl seems to have a lot of exposure with their appearance in most episodes compared to other characters.
The latest episode allegiance in Alexandria is once again shaken with Negan's terrorizing and despicable acts and speeches. Rick's people expressed utter defiance of his orders when he asked them to surrender their weapons. While Rick's closest ally and romantic interest, Michonne, reluctantly followed his order to surrender their weapons to the Saviors considering that Olivia's safety is at stake, Spencer was bold in his refusal and even challenged Rick which forced the latter to shut him down.
Later, Rick confided to her that following Negan's order might just be the best option they have, given that his people are not there to spy on them. It remains to be seen whether Michonne was convinced or not. Nevertheless, a gleam of hope for the group seems to be underway as Rosita finally asked Eugene to make a bullet for the gun she hid from almost everyone.
In "The Walking Dead" Season 7 episode 5, viewers seemed to be heading to another setting as the focus shifts to the Hilltop where Maggie and Sasha are, and see what is happening in the community all along.
