The "Teen Wolf" actor Dylan O'Brien has finally addressed the rampant rumours about casting for the role of Spider-Man under Sony-Marvel partnership. The actor confirms that these are mere rumours as he hasn't even auditioned for the role.
Speaking to Buzzfeed News, Dylan O'Brien played down the reports claiming he would be portraying the role of the new Peter Parker in Spider-Man reboot. The speculations began swirling around last month when the two studios announced that the Spider-Man will be joining Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"Professionally, I haven't heard anything about it," the actor told the publication during an interview on the sets of his TV show "Teen Wolf." "I've only heard from, like, [rumours] online."
He said he feels sad "disappointing a big chunk of fans across the nation" by telling these reports are "not true." However, Dylan O' Brien is "interested in the role" and feels "flattered" to be called as the top contender for the much-talked about superhero role.
"I've always wanted to play Peter Parker, obviously. I feel like any actor my age, that's, like, a big thing," the actor added.
Dylan O'Brien is one of the many actors who are speculated to portray the role of high-school based Peter Parker. Another popular contender for the role is "Percy Jackson" actor Logan Lerman. But Dylan O'Brien seems very excited to see his "name being tossed with Logan Lerman's"
The rumours surfaced when Variety reported that Logan Lerman and Dylan O'Brien are being "considered for the role." Meanwhile, a Reddit user claimed that "it is official, Dylan [O'Brien] has signed on as the new webhead!"
