"Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma" Season 3 air date is in 2017, most likely in the summer. Spoilers revealed that Yukihira Soma's father Joichiro will be back in Totsuki.
Joichiro wants to test how much Soma has improved since he first set foot in Totsuki Academy; thus, he will pay his son a visit in the school. In the Academy, he will bump into his old friend Dojima Gin. Gin and Joichiro held the highly coveted first and second seats, respectively, in the Elite Ten Council during their days in the school.
Gin will break the news that Nakiri Azami is back in Totsuki as the new headmaster and Erina's grandfather, Senzaemon, was forced out of the school. Azami held the third seat in the Elite Ten Council and is the father of Erina. Erina developed an immense fear to her father because of the abuse she got when he was training her God Tongue.
Meanwhile, the connection between Erina and Joichiro will be revealed next season. Senzaemon will seek the help of the father and son Yukihira as there will be a big change in Totsuki upon the arrival of Azami.
The second season of the beloved food anime concluded at the end of Stagiaire arc. The first year students of Totsuki academy are back in school. The new arc will explore the next stage of what will happen to aspiring chefs.
It is unknown how many episodes that the Season 3 will have, but it is rumored that the third season will have around 12 episodes that are currently in the works. This is mainly because the anime caught up with the manga. No official air date has been announced yet.
