Customers in Italy will soon be able to buy cars just with a click online, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has entered into a partnership with the online retain giant Amazon to sell their cars. According to reports, the prices of cars available via online booking will be about a third cheaper than those purchased elsewhere.
To begin with, the offer will only be open to customers in Italy, Reuters reported. Amazon.it will be offering three models of FCA's automobile lineup - the 500, the 500L and the Panda, online.
According to FCA, the seventh largest car manufacturer in the world, inclusion of the Panda in the list of cars to be sold online was an obvious choice, because it is the country's best selling cars. Similarly, the company is trying to target the young and adventurous customers by offering the 500 and the larger 500L models online.
It is time to offer the customers a novel and more effectual as well as transparent means to select their new vehicles, the news agency quoted Gianluca Italia, FCA manage for Fiat Chrysler in Italy, as saying in an online press meet. According to Italia, the collaboration with Amazon will attract potential customers who seeking to purchase their favorite cars from the comforts of their homes and offices.
Moreover, the new initiative will enable customers to purchase their cars at a discounted price - up to 33 percent less compared to anywhere else, the manager said. As a bonus, they will also avail various promotions launched by the company from time to time. Findings of a study conducted by FCA revealed that while 50 percent Italian preferred to buy their cars online, 97 percent still favored purchasing them from the traditional dealers, Italia added.
Purchasing a car online will be something different from buying other items via the Internet, Slash Gear reported. In order to buy a Fiat car from Amazon.it, one will first require selecting his/ her desirable car online from the offered list.
Following this, Amazon will contact the potential buyer and fix their appointment with a close by Fiat dealer. Next, a dealer's associate will contact the buyer, inviting him to visit their office to finalize the sale and pick up the new car. The new process will not eliminate the dealers, but allow customers to pick their vehicles from home and get it delivered at their doorstep.
