Trade rumors have gone crazy early in the season, with big names predicted to switch teams. While there are no confirmed moves yet from the teams involved in the rumor mill, it would be intriguing to see stars like Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony and DeMarcus Cousins join other teams.
Sports Illustrated's Jeremy Woo chronicled a piece purely based on speculations about big names getting traded in a six-team mega deal involving the Celtics, Hornets, Kings, Knicks, Pelicans and Wizards. Several names are mentioned in the fictitious deals, but the main pieces include stars like Anthony, Cousins and Davis.
In the explored trade scenario, Charlotte would acquire Davis (Pelicans) and Tyler Zeller (Celtics), while Pelicans receive Bradley Beal (Wizards), Jonas Jerebko (Celtics) and a plethora of future first-rounders from the mentioned teams.
The Wizards, on the other hand, would get Cousins, Matt Barnes (Kings), Marvin Williams (Hornets) and Langston Galloway (Pelicans), while the Kings get Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Hornets), Marcin Gortat (Wizards) and a pair of Celtics guard in Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart, as well as the rights to Ante Zizic (Celtics) and Charlotte's unprotected 2017 first-rounder.
As for the Celtics, they would get Anthony, Lance Thomas (Knicks) and Cody Zeller (Hornets), with New York receiving Rudy Gay (Kings), Amir Johnson (Celtics) and Otto Porter (Wizards).
Davis would instantly make the Hornets a title contender, especially with the team off to a hot-start this season. After losing Al Jefferson this past summer, the Hornets would probably look into adding inside scoring, something Davis could certainly offer.
Meanwhile, trading Cousins to the Wizards would give Wall an All-Star to play with, also boosting Washington's chances of contending for a championship. Cousins, who many believe would get traded before the deadline, provides the Wizards an immensely talented big man, who can easily play well alongside his good friend Wall.
As for the Celtics, they could finally acquire the other star talent, whom they could pair with Al-Horford. Adding Anthony would not solve Boston's rebounding problems, but his offensive skills and leadership should give the Celtics a more realistic shot for an 18th banner.
Such moves would cause a major shakeup in the league and alter the NBA power rankings. However, it is too hard to imagine any of these scenarios would come to fruition this season, although it would be intriguing to see stars like Anthony, Cousins and Davis play for other teams.
