After five months, Domino’s Pizza in South Korea issued a new advertisement still featuring the two male endorsers who were its models in June. However, the new commercial has significantly less “bromance” hint on it in contrast with the older commercial.
The new one-minute, 30-second commercial still features “Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki and close friend Park Bo Gum, however, they seem to be just close male buddies. In contrast, the bromance aspect was heavily emphasized as they feed each other slices of pizza pie in the older commercial.
The new advertisement pushed for a new pizza flavor, Braised Pork Pizza, which Park Bo Gum and Song Joong-ki found so tasty that they opted for another round in the end, according to AllKpop. Domino’s Pizza also came out with another video that showed how the commercial was made, including the deleted scenes, Soompi noted.
However, in the new commercial, Song Joong-ki and Park Bo Gum eat their own pizza slices and then just give each other a high-five at the end of the commercial. Could the change be in response to gay rumors that hit the 31-year-old actor recently?
The question over the “Battleship Island” actor’s sexual preference was raised by a website which asked if the reason why Song Joong-ki could not confirm a suspected secret romantic relationship with “Descendants of the Sun” co-star Song Hye Kyo is because he allegedly prefers men over men.
The article cited his bromance with other Korean actors such as Kim Jong Kook, Lee Kwang Soo, Yoo Ah In and Jin Go and hinted Song Joong-ki was allegedly was just using Song Hye Kyo to mask his real personality. However, Song Joong-ki and Blossom Entertainment, his agency, had denied the rumor that he is gay but did not dignify the speculation further by asking people to focus on his acting and end questions over his gender preference.
