On Nov. 24, the people behind the much-awaited "Star Citizen," Cloud Imperium Games, released a trailer showcasing two new ships that will be included in the game once released. Although the company has not committed at any release date yet, fans are hoping the game will be ready by 2017.
While it has been four years since the record-breaking crowdfunding of "Star Citizen" began, the official game has not been out yet. Despite this, pledgers were kept updated with the developments and how things are coming.
Originally set to be out this year, the first person shooter module "Squadron 42," had fans hoping for a release finally, until developers announced in early 2016 that its launching will be moved to a later date, Gaming Bolt reported.
Considering that Cloud Imperium Games are already releasing trailers by this time, it would not be far from happening. Still, fans are advised to keep themselves updated on the developments and announcements.
Meanwhile, Cloud Imperium Games recently posted extracts from its production schedule via the Roberts Space Industries site. In the website are portions of its schedule for various elements included in "Star Citizen." Paired with their target release dates, Star Marine, Arena Commander and other modules were posted.
The same post reveals that the target release date for alpha 2.6 is on Dec. 8. Overall in charge Chris Roberts said in his post that breakdown of schedule will be done on a weekly basis.
"So for Star Citizen Alpha 2.6 we're going to share our internal schedule and its breakouts on a weekly basis."
Roberts also added they are planning to release these updates to a larger audience. Once they are done removing some information and editing to make it more understandable to the general audience, they will be releasing the said details.
"These are the very same schedules we update daily and are circulated internally on our intra-studio hand-offs with a few exceptions: the individual developer names assigned to the tasks will be omitted (for obvious reasons), we'll remove the JIRA details and we'll modify the technical wording to make it readable for a wider audience, but otherwise, when something changes, slips or is completed, you will know."
