Samantha Bee is all set to bid adieu to "The Daily Show" as TBS has announced plans to give her own exclusive comedy show. The channel had recently proclaimed that they are thinking about launching a new scripted comedy show, which had been created none other than Bee and her creative husband Jason Jones. She would be the host and also the executive producer of the new show.
However, TBS is yet to announce the launch date of the new show, as per reports by Miami Herald. TBS said in a statement that the new topical show would be Bee's baby and would allow her to "apply her smart and satirical point of view to current and relevant issues". However the name of this new show has yet to be decided by the channel and Bee.
Jon Stewart is currently the host of "The Daily Show" and as he is leaving the show by 2015-end so the potential successors were being rounded up and Bee was also a strong contender to be the host. However now that she is set to get her own show, so she can't possibly be the host of "The Daily Show" as well. Comedy Central would now have to find a new host to fill Stewart's shoes.
Jason Jones tweeted on the microblogging and popular social networking site Twitter about the impending goodbye that, 'It has been less than ten years that I have worked for one of the best TV shows. Yet, some things must come to an end. Having said that, I am happy to announce that another great show will come your way at TBS' as per reports by SMN Weekly.
