As revealed in the "Doctor Strange" post-credits scene, Thor is searching for his father, Odin, who is somewhere roaming the Earth. Thor is going to need all the help he can get, including that of his brother Loki. The brothers seem to be working together in "Thor: Ragnarok" for a cause, much bigger than their sibling rivalry.
It appears that Odin has been exiled in Earth by Loki himself. Odin is presumed to be going about the streets of New York as homeless man, based on new set photos of Anthony Hopkins for "Thor: Ragnarok," IGN reported. It is also speculated that Odin does not have any powers on Earth, a situation that would be a nod to the "Ultimates" version of Thor where he was presented as an earthling without any godly powers.
The photos also show Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on the set wearing casual human clothing. It is speculated that the brothers are looking for Odin in the city. It is uncertain what Loki's motives are for helping his brother or if there is a bigger bargain in store for him in return for his services.
Meanwhile, another surprise cameo appearance will take place in "Thor: Ragnarok" in the form of WWE superstar John Cena. According to Movie Pilot, Cena is rumored to make appearance in the film as himself. It remains a mystery how the renowned wrestler will cross paths with the characters in the superhero film. Whatever it is, fans are already looking forward to see Cena in a Marvel superhero film.
Filming for "Thor: Ragnarok" is currently underway in Australia. The film's cast list also includes Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange will appear presumably to help Thor find Odin, as per their agreement during the "Doctor Strange" post-credits scene.
The big bad in the third installment of "Thor" is Hela, portrayed by Cate Blanchett. It is rumored that Hela holds the Soul Stone. Idris Elba's character Heimdall is also reported to have the Soul Stone, which is the last Infinity Stone that has yet to be unveiled in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"Thor: Ragnarok" will premiere in theaters on Oct. 25, 2017.
