Ji Chang-Wook, 29, thinks rumors about his brewing romance with "The K2" co-star Yoona are petty. The two recently portrayed Kim Je-Ha (aka K2) and Go Anna in tvN's political drama "The K2."
In an interview on Dec. 1, Thursday, with local newsoutlet dongA as cited by All Kpop, Ji slammed those dating rumors, stressing that they were just friends and nothing more. The actor admitted he was not surprised upon learning about the dating rumors swirling around him and his "The K2" co-star.
"The dating rumors involving YoonA are not true," Ji stressed. "I just worked hard and, again, a lot of people have come to misunderstand this time. So I thought, 'Again?' and just laughed. I've also talked to YoonA about these rumors and we just laughed it off."
For Ji, such dating rumors emerge when the actors did a great job in portraying their respective character. However, the catch of good acting is when the viewers misunderstood their professionalism into something personal, the actor added.
"I think good acting results when working together in a comfortable environment and that also helps to increase the viewers' focus, but that tends to lead to misunderstandings," Ji explained. "I think that's what happened again this time."
Ji then reiterated that there is nothing special between him and the Girls' Generation member. He said it will be perfect to describe their relationship as close oppa-dongsaeng, the Korean term for older brother-younger sister.
This comes days after the "Healer" star has opened up about his personal life. In another interview with local media at a café in Itaewon, Seoul, he revealed why he does not have a girlfriend and why those waiting for him to settle down may have to wait a little longer.
"I really want to date, but I have to fulfill my military obligation," The Kpop Herald quoted Ji as saying. "So, dating probably won't be good for me and my partner."
The actor revealed whenever he got involved in a fling with someone, it always ends up disappearing. He stressed that dating is harder than it looks and that is the reason he gets excited when there is a romantic relationship in any of his projects.
