Bethesda Softwork's "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" is no doubt one of the developer's fattest milking cows to date that has a record sale of 30 million units sold since it came out five years ago. Albeit still bathing on the acclaim that it has been getting from critics and faithfuls, many of them are now musing about its long-awaited follow-up since its about high time that Bethesda releases a new installment in the famed series.
"Elder Scrolls" creator Todd Howard sat down with Glixel and talked about the future of the series including Bethesda's other projects. Howard assured fans that "Skyrim" won't be the last title of the franchise as he stated that Bethesda will continue to make titles under the "Elder Scrolls" mythos. The creator added that the game made him who is right now and ditching the said series will be very difficult for him.
Nevertheless, he further explained that the company is having quite a handful right now with the current endeavors that they committed to and an "Elder Scrolls" sequel will be shelved in the meantime.
Prior to this, Bethesda's vice president of public relations and marketing, Pete Hines, tweeted that the game is not yet in the works despite their confirmation that they'll be making one. However, a fan insisted by responding that this could be just a publicity stunt that the developer is pulling off, though Hines firmly retorted stating that nobody in the company is doing such.
If rumors about the game are anything to go by, Neurogadget suggested that one of the viable reasons why "Elder Scrolls VI" is not yet in development is that Bethesda may still be waiting for the right technology to arrive to finally produce the said title. Moreover, it is also theorized that in the event that the sequel come to fruition, it is likely to focus on the inhabitants of the Black Marsh province known as the Argonians.
