"How to Get Away With Murder" Season 3 is on a short winter hiatus, but there are rumors that ABC will soon announce its renewal for Season 4.
According to TV Line, Pete Nowalk's series garnered impressive ratings for its midseason finale episode. The show's #UndertheSheet reveal also drew in a total of five million viewers and a 1.4 rating. In "Who's Dead?" it was revealed that Wes (Alfred Enoch) was killed.
Following Wes' shocking demise, fans of the series could not help but wonder who was responsible for taking his life. To make things more intriguing, Nate told Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) while the latter was in prison that Wes was already dead before he was burned inside her house.
While speaking with Variety, Nowalk said that there will be a lot of twists and turns surrounding Wes' death, and each one will be unveiled at the beginning of episode 10. Other than the surprising reveals, Nowalk also confirmed that the first episode back in January will be a very emotional one for all of the characters in the series. "It changes the dynamic between every single relationship because Wes was such a centerpiece," he said.
Meanwhile, Nowalk also explained why they decided to kill off Wes and not the other characters. In the previous seasons, it was established that Annalise feels very close to Wes because of what happened to his mother. A few years ago, Annalise worked with Wes' mother who killed herself in front of the lead character.
With this, Wes' death will be most impactful for Annalise. Not to mention, she is also being convicted for it. But as a survivor, Annalise will find ways to cope while she is in prison. Davis herself is excited to put on different masks and play the role. Unfortunately, it will take some time before Annalise gets out of jail. Nowalk said that her time in prison will change Annalise's outlook in life, but this could also mean that she will become more fearless.
"How to Get Away With Murder" Season 3, episode 10 will air on ABC on Jan. 19 at 10 p.m. EST.
