Everything about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 when released in 2017 is expected to one-up Apple's MacBook Pro, both the 2016 and next year's version, and the details known so far indeed point to that direction. For starters, it will be an Intel Kaby Lake-powered hybrid device, a new report said.
And that means that the sequel to the Surface Pro 4 is packed with more computing power while boasting of increased efficiency at the same time. The 7th-gen Kaby Lake firing up the SP5 is anchored on the notion that by the second half of 2017 the Intel processing chip is all set for mass availability, and rumors say the Pro 5 will come out at around the same time.
When it does, the Surface Pro 5 is sure to surpass the already impressive specifications and features seen with the immediate predecessor - the SP4. The BitBag reported that it's fair to assume that the SP5 will be delivered bearing higher storage and RAM provision so the minimum expectations for both would be 512GB and no less than 32GB, respectively.
As Kaby Lake will fully support 4K native resolution then it has to be part of the deal but the same report noted that apart from receiving an enhanced display the Surface Pro 5 will include fingerprint sensor embedded on the screen. How exactly the implementation will be, the same report did not detail.
But The BitBag mentioned of a significantly improved Surface Pen stylus that will ditch the replaceable battery in favor of rechargeable. Juicing up the smart input tool is via wireless mode, specifically by resting the Pen on the SP5's magnetic dock, by itself a definitive killer feature.
For connectivity, it will be the 2017 standard - meaning the package will include multiple USB Type-C ports that likely are compatible with Thunderbolt technology. So Microsoft fans are assured of superfast data transfer, quick recharging and sufficient provisions for expansion like the use of keyboard and mouse accessories or hooking the SP5 laplet an external monitor.
Now as the 2017 builds of the Mac desktops and MacBook notebooks are sure to run on an updated MacOS Sierra, so is the Surface Pro 5, which the report said will surely rock with Windows 10 Redstone 3. The OS update is said to have been designed for optimal and seamless computing experience between mobile and conventional devices.
As mentioned, the Surface Pro 5 release date is happening in late 2017, likely in the last quarter of the year and coinciding with the rumored next-generation Windows 10 mobile smartphone - the Surface Phone.
